PROF. SALAWATI MAT BASIR

Prof Dr Salawati Mat Basir is a Professor at the Centre of International Law and Siyar, Faculty of Law, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). Prior to joining UKM, Prof Dr Salawati held several professional positions including practising Advocate & Solicitor, legal officer at multinational company and post conflict officer with United Nation on Trade and Development UNCTAD. Prof Dr Salawati held LLB, LLM and PhD from the Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). Her research focuses on international law and maritime security, South China Sea conflict, globalisation and regional security, and defence policy. She currently is the Fellow at the Malaysian Institute of Defence and Security (MiDAS), Ministry of Defence Malaysia and also Senior Research Fellow at the Sea Power Centre, Royal Malaysian Navy.
